How it works
How our ACS gas portfolio placement works.
From a free suitability check to sign-off. You send us your requirements, we plan the placement around the evidence you need, and you build the portfolio on live domestic jobs in London.
How it works
Six steps, start to finish.
-
Step 1
Free suitability check
Send us your details, your programme or training centre information and any paperwork you have. We check whether we can help. No payment.
-
Step 2
Detailed review — £50
If we are a good fit, we read your requirements properly and work out the evidence, tasks and job types your placement needs to cover.
-
Step 3
Agree the plan and milestones
You see what the placement is aiming to cover, and exactly what triggers each later stage payment. Nothing is left vague.
-
Step 4
Join the engineers on live jobs
Approximately two weeks alongside our Gas Safe registered engineers on live domestic work in and around London.
-
Step 5
Complete the work and capture evidence
You carry out the relevant supervised tasks and the evidence is captured as the work happens, rather than reconstructed afterwards.
-
Step 6
Organise the portfolio
Each piece of evidence is matched to the applicable requirement, in an order that can actually be assessed.
-
Step 7
Applicable engineer evidence and sign-off
Completed where the required work has been carried out under the appropriate supervision and the applicable requirements are satisfied.
-
Step 8
You submit through your programme
You progress through the process required by your training centre or programme. That assessment is theirs, not ours.

What You’ll Experience On Site
We review your portfolio requirements before you start and plan your placement around the evidence you need. Because our engineers are working across a high volume of live domestic jobs, we see a broad mix of suitable work and can schedule candidates around the job types identified in their review.
You are there to do the work and learn the job, not to stand and watch while somebody collects signatures on your behalf.
You come to us.
The jobs are in and around London. We don’t travel out to you — you make your own way to site and meet us at the job each day. Worth working out your travel before you book.
Work may include
- Boiler servicing
- Appliance installation
- Tightness testing
- Fault finding
- Gas safety checks
- Other appropriate domestic gas tasks
These are genuine customer jobs, so the exact order and the day each job type appears can vary. Not every candidate needs every task listed — your placement is planned around what your own review identifies.
Portfolio support guarantee
If your training centre identifies a legitimate problem with evidence, organisation or applicable engineer sign-off that Gas Track Academy provided as part of your agreed portfolio support, we will work with you to correct that part at no additional charge.
This is the part people worry about most, and fairly so. You are not left on your own if something comes back, and there is nothing further to pay for putting right work we were responsible for.
What it does not mean
- It is not a guarantee that you will pass an ACS assessment
- It is not a guarantee that a training centre will accept your entire portfolio regardless of circumstances
- It does not cover your performance in an assessment
- It does not cover work or evidence completed elsewhere
- It does not cover entirely new requirements introduced after the scope we reviewed and agreed
- It does not allow sign-off for work that was not actually carried out and supervised as required
